September 2012

This month marked the start of school for both girls: Robin started in the 3s class in preschool and Amanda started 1st grade. Amanda also started going to a new aftercare program at the Nature Center, which she absolutely loves. She participated in a week of their summer camp and it was her favorite part of summer. And the best part about the aftercare program is that it's educational and fun at the same time, and there's a really great, small group of kids there, including her best friend Charlie.

Robin is also having a great time at school this month, as she is with all of her best friends again this year: Gabby, Riley, and Nathalie. She loves her teachers, who like to call her "Rockin' Robin" and is getting along well with friends new and old.

While we don't have many pictures to show for it, we seemed to have had a busy month just getting back into the swing of things after such a fun and exciting summer.

**Overheard this month: Robin**

Robin, youíre something else. "Iím not something else. Iím a people!"

First Day Of School

Amanda was very excited for the start of school and eagerly ran into the building.

Robin, on the other hand, was happy see her friends but still appreciated Aleck walking her in.

The Icky-Night Monster

Amanda created this Lego girl cyborg, who roams around the Lego city at night and kills all of the Lego girls it can find.

Nothing beats a good beater-licking.

**Overheard this month: Amanda**

"I speak regular person English."

Rosh Hashannah

We celebrated Rosh Hashannah with family, a shofar, apples, and sticky honey.

**Overheard this month: Amanda, Revisionist Historian (aka Drama Queen)**

During the holidays of Rosh Hashannah (the new year) and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), we are supposed to think about our behavior over the past year and note ways in which we'd like to change or better ourselves, and things we've done that we don't want to repeat.
We had a conversation about this with Amanda and asked her to think of things she'd done in the past year that she would say "sorry" for.
Her answer: "I can't think of any." When reminded by her parents of a few times she'd thrown a fit,
her reply was, "Well, that's your fault for making me mad!"

Gymnasts In Our Midst

Amanda pulls off some impressive moves...

... as does Robin.

**Overheard this month: Robin**

Pretending to talk on her toy cell phone:
"Grammy says she's not dead."
