September 2009

This month was all about getting to know Robin (loves her pacifier; likes her bath; hates wearing socks; despises her car seat) and trying to formulate some sort of routine (we can dream, can't we?). We had fun with friends and celebrated some holidays with family.

Amanda also returned to school after a 2 week hiatus at home (there was a break between the end of camp and the start of school). She was very excited to go back and see all of her friends. She's a Penguin this year and loves every minute of it. Her teacher has confirmed what we've suspected: she's a lefty, as is evident in some pictures taken at school where she can be seen clearly using her dominant left hand.

Amanda also likes to make observations about things that are similar or different. She'll point out how "we all have blue eyes except Mommy" or how "we're all wearing long sleeves except Daddy". One morning, Amanda and Stacey were eating breakfast together. Amanda had cold cereal and Stacey had oatmeal. Amanda remarked, "We're both eating oatmeal except me!"

"Your tushie is your butt."

First Day Of School

Elijah and Maggie go to the same preschool as Amanda this year. We gathered for some memory-making before heading out the door.

“Why is it not camp anymore? I like camp better.”

Play Time with Robin

What are these toys of which you speak and what am I supposed to do with them? I can't control my limbs, you know.

**Overheard this month**

"She's wide asleep."
"She fell awake."

Amanda is the attentive big sister, shoving the pacifier back into Robin's mouth.

Watching Robin react as Aleck shook a rattle for her: “Can I have that toy and Robin’s head?”

Learning How To Have Fun At School

Happily for us, Amanda continues to love her preschool. She is learning so much and her teachers are very creative with way they teach.

Amanda, Casey and Aidan: The Triumvirate

Amanda tells us that she only plays with these two friends, and the pictures don't seem to indicate otherwise.

Here she and Casey play with hula hoops, color together, and dance together.

She and Aidan build a structure; the three friends play with Floam.

Does This Mean She's a Leftist?

Here you can see Amanda clearly using her left hand to trace a picture, and also to use the glue stick while making her penguin.

Tactile Learning

Amanda's class learned all about pomegranates. They got to look at them, feel them, and cut them open and eat the seeds.

She's Puzzled

Thanks to her cousin Matty, Amanda has begun doing jigsaw puzzles. Matty gave away 2 of his puzzles to Amanda and this is now her favorite activity. She will put them together and take them apart over and over again.

Getting ready for bath: "Look what's coming... Naked Girl!"

What?! That's All?

Robin is understandably upset by the small number of pictures this month, but rest assured that October will have photos aplenty.
