Amanda Rachel
Amanda was born on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 3:16 pm

JANUARY 2007

In January we took a trip to Puerto Rico for Adeena and Josh's wedding and then spent a week in St. Thomas. We also made multiple trips to the pediatrician this month after Amanda had her first fever/stomach bug. When all was said and done, she was left with just a cold that the doctor predicts she will have every entire winter until she's at least 3. Amanda can sit up very well now and has even started to pull herself up to a standing position when you're holding her hands. We're still waiting for some teeth to come through and she is still chewing on anything and everything within reach. She also recently noticed our dog Luna and is slightly obsessed with her. Luna, for her part, is still keeping her distance.  On the crawling front, Amanda is still only scooting backwards. She seems to want to skip crawling altogether and go right to walking. Oh boy...

"I'm ready for my close up."

Amanda's First Trip to the Beach. She totally looks the part.

But when it came down to the water, she wasn't so excited.

Even when Mommy and Daddy were holding her and right there with her, she was not into it.

As you can see, she much preferred to eat the sand.

Fun with Jen!
Our friend Jen came to St. Thomas with us to lend a hand with Amanda. Jen learned fast that Amanda is ruthless, going straight for the eyes and mouth.

Amanda can now use a restaurant high chair! Oh, the possibilities!

She is also learning to use a cup, though that skill is a little harder to master.

Time for a hotel Sink Bath-- Amanda's first (in a sink, that is)

There's that cup again...

Meanwhile, back at home...

Yes, this is a picture from the first weekend in January in Virginia. Global warming? What's that?

Amanda's favorite toy of all is the Jumperoo, which lets her jump up and down. The camera was stationary during these shots.

She also now uses a "big girl" highchair, where she regularly dines on her favorites of green beans, applesauce, pears, bananas, squash, and sweet potatoes.

Am I the only one who sees a resemblance here?

Seven Months! Time for a photo shoot!

Teether Bob. Don't leave your crib without him.
