March 2012

What a busy month! Spring was trying really hard to come through, and for the most part, it did! We got to spend some time outside for the first time in a while. We had a big birthday month with celebrations for both Aleck and our friend Hannah. We celebrated Purim a few times this year with great costumes and lots of different carnivals. Construction on the house finished this month and the girls reveled in the new completely empty "Running Room." They will not be too happy when it is converted to its intended purpose: Aleck's new home office.

Amanda's gymnastics class wrapped up and parents were invited in to the final class to see what the kids had accomplished. We really enjoyed watching her and her classmates tumble and have fun. Amanda continues to do well in school and loves to learn. She can't believe that this year is more than halfway through!

Robin is also doing well in school and loves her teachers and friends. She gets excited to go to school each day in order to play! She is learning new things every day, and for the things she doesn't know, she just makes it up. She's convincing enough that sometimes she'll even get you to believe it, too. For instance, she tells you with certainty that her Hebrew name is "RoPin." She also rides the "alligator" up and down at the mall, and her birthday is "August sick." We have learned it's best not to argue with her on these points.

"I will try it and I will like it!"

Happy Purim!

We went to several Purim celebrations this year, including Tot Shabbat, a Purim Carnival hosted by the temple,
and a Purim Carnival at Robin's preschool. Due to a teacher workday at Amanda's school, Amanda was able to come to the party at Robin's school, as well!

The story of Purim revolves around the good guys: Queen Esther and Mordecai, and the Bad Guy: Haman. Robin developed a bit of an obsession around Haman and was very worried that he was going to come around and take her things. She even woke up from a nightmare one night because she thought that Haman was going to get her.

**Overheard this month: Robin**

"Can you hold my things so Haman doesn’t get them?"

Robin and her friends were equally ecstatic to arrive at school in costume.
Here is Robin with her friends (l-r) Nathalie, Gabby and Riley

**Overheard this month**

Amanda:   "The teacher has tattoos on his arms." (gesturing to her own arms)
Robin:   "Gabby and Riley have so many arms."

Handy Amandy

One of the final touches of construction was replacing all of our interior door knobs. Amanda was excited to help with her very own kid-sized power drill. And of course, you can't use a drill without the proper attire.

**Overheard this month: Amanda**

Amanda:   "2 year-olds are creepy."
Stacey:   "Really?"
Amanda:   "Yeah! They creep around and mess up your stuff."

We're Finished!

Robin grew just enough to be able to bump her head on a pull-out shelf in the kitchen. Trying to elicit the word "careful" from her, she and Stacey had the following exchange:

You're tall enough to bump your head on that, so we need to be... what? "Superhero."

Happy Birthday, Aleck!

**Overheard this month: Robin**

"Can you help me lock my shoes?"

Happy Birthday, Hannah!

Hannah had a dress-up tea party for her 5th birthday.
